The New Year is traditionally a time to consider the parts of ourselves or our life that we’d like to change or rearrange. Resolutions often spring from the misguided desires of the ego, senses, and conditioning. They almost always fail because they start from the assumption that who you are is not good enough and reinforce the mistaken belief that your happiness depends on acquiring what you want.

Yoga offers a refreshing alternative to the New Year’s resolution, a way of Saying YES to Life that starts from the radical idea that you already are who you need to be to fulfil your life’s dreams and to allow your uniqueness to shine through.  It also gives us the ability to be with difficulty and to release expectations that everything needs to be perfect or fairy-tale like for life to be enjoyed.

My brand-new six-week programme of yoga and meditation will take you on a journey so that you can connect deeply with your hearts-desire and learn how to incorporate intention or ‘sankalpa’ into everyday life. It will teach you techniques that you can use on and off the mat so that being happy and fulfilled become part of who you are.


And for this programme I will be including a ‘Back-to-Basics’ class on Mondays at 18.30-19.30 for those that are brand new to yoga, returning after a break or just want a recap on some of the fundamental poses and breathing techniques of yoga. You could see it as a gateway into the other classes, workshops and retreats that I offer so that you feel confident to attend but perhaps more importantly, inspired to continue your yoga practice and draw on its healing, supportive qualities. This class, and the other seven classes throughout the week will follow the theme, ‘Saying YES to Life’!

Here's what you can expect each week:

Week 1 w/c 4 Jan - Introduction to Saying YES to Life

“There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and the other is called tomorrow; so today is the right day to love, believe, do and mostly live.”  ~ Dalai Lama


For me ‘Saying Yes to life’ is about showing up every day, on purpose, with purpose, regardless of what the internal or external weather pattern of emotions might be! This week we’ll come home to that place within us where we can explore the deeper meaning of intention or Sankalpa in Sanskrit and how it can be used in everyday life.


Week 2 w/c 11 Jan - Leaving behind what no longer serves you

A new year, a new window to release and let go what might be holding us back from living a life that is true to us. That might be something physical or that little voice that tells us we’re not capable or even worthy. We’ll explore techniques that enable us to let go and then invite in its place kindness, compassion, creativity and happiness.


Week 3 w/c 18 Jan - Be a Beginner

Awakening the beginners mind of curiosity takes us out of automatic pilot mode and invites in a wider perspective on what is really happening. It also helps us see the magic and wonder that is all around, a bit like seeing through the eyes of a child and through that a natural sense of gratitude develops. So no matter where we are on our yoga journey, this week we will practice being a beginner and see how that can bring a lightness to our body and mind.


Week 4 w/c 25 Jan - Awaken the Flame within

We all have our own inner light that we are born with. We see it in young children and gradually over time it dims. Our practices can help bring it back alive so this week we’ll stoke the inner flame and invite in self-confidence that lives deep within.


Week 5 w/c 1 Feb - Let it RAIN

The imperfections of life are mind-made stories that prevent us from seeing the beauty and joy of everyday life. This week we’ll use the powerful technique of RAIN to create acceptance, resilience, flow, ease and grace and come home to a place deep within us that recognises life is just as it should be at this moment in time.


Week 6 w/c 8 Feb - A Compass for Life

“Live your life by a compass, not a clock” ~ Stephen R. Covey


Having a compass for life means that every action is aligned with your values and purpose. It brings together all that we’ve been exploring over the past six-weeks and reminds us that Saying YES to Life is about embracing all the joy, happiness, difficulties and challenges of modern life.

More about Louise Neicho

I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching for 8 and have completed around 1000hrs of teacher training. I can honestly say that yoga has saved my life on more than one occasion and I don’t think I would be the person I am today if it wasn’t for my practice.

My fascination with the human brain has also started to seep into my practice and teachings and I’m excited to be studying an MSc in Mindfulness and Neuroscience. To bring all of this together is simply a dream come true and I hope you will join me on this unique and special during this January.

How the Membership Works

There will be eight classes to choose from in five different styles throughout the week where we will explore these concepts and themes. Whether you prefer dynamic and flowing or gentle and restorative, I'm certain there will be a class to suit you.


All classes will be recorded and uploaded to the Members Only Area (read more below about this) within 24 hours of taking place so if you miss any you can catch up at a time suit you. PLUS if you go on holiday, you can still access the live classes or recordings from anywhere in the world (as long as you have internet of course!)


All live classes will take place via Zoom, an easy to use popular video conferencing platform. If you haven't used it before, don't worry it's easy to set up and I'll be on hand to guide you through any problems you may have.

How is this different to other yoga classes?
My program is designed to take you gently and slowly into the deeper layers of the mind. Each week building on your understanding of the workings of the mind and the tools and techniques that you can use on and off your mat. The difference to regular yoga classes is that we focus on one particular emotion or area of the mind, as well as a physical focus in the body each week. You get to explore this theme for a whole week on and off the mat, building your awareness and focus.
Here’s a breakdown of each week:

Which class should I choose?
There are 5 different styles to choose from and how you choose will depend on whether you have practiced yoga before or not and what you would like to gain from your practice. If you are new to yoga or haven’t practiced in a while, I would suggest starting with the Back-to-Basics, Gentle & Restorative and Yin Yoga.
If you are familiar with vinyasas then you’ll love the Flow & Reflect classes on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings and if you’re looking for more stillness, deep physical stretches and meditation techniques then Yin Yoga will be for you. The beauty of a membership is that you can try them all and find your favourites!
Do I have to complete the program?
No, you don’t have to complete the course. You will obviously benefit far more by completing the 6 weeks as it will build each week on the techniques and tools we can use to cultivate that inner happiness. You can also cancel your membership at any time.
What happens if I miss a class?
No problem if you miss a class as they will be added to the members area where you can practice them at any time.
Will all the classes be online?
Yes all of the classes will be online but I plan to hold the Wednesday 09.30 and Saturday 09.30 classes in the forest when the weather allows. If you can't attend you can still practice with us as these will be live streamed to Zoom and recorded.

N.B. Your membership includes Heartwood Classes, you just need to book in advance so I know how many people to expect.
How does the Members Only Area work?
When you become a member you can enjoy all recorded live classes, my Mini Yoga Series and yoga nidras to help you sleep. These are all accessed via a secure Members Only Area and updated regularly with new practices (live recorded classes are uploaded within 24hrs, often much quicker).

What do I need to begin?
You will need a yoga mat and comfortable clothing that you can easily move around in, PJ’s work well for this! For some of the classes you will need some props, but we have been experimenting with household pillows, cushions and blankets in place of traditional yoga props. I will let you know at the beginning of class what you need.
How do I sign-up?
Choose the level of membership that you would like to sign-up for. This will depend on how many classes you would like to take in a week and if there are other people in your household that would like to join. The breakdown of pricing structures is below.
