Woodland Yoga is delighted to offer a Back-to-Basics class focusing on body alignment, the fundamentals of pranayama (breath work), bandhas (internal locks), key asanas (postures), finding your vinyasa (sun salutation) and aims to give you the confidence to restart your yoga practice or for those brand-new to yoga.

 

These classes focus on anatomy and the benefits that each pose can offer, taking into account your individual body needs. Each week there will be a different theme and focus, whilst doing a rounded practice, therefore building up to a greater awareness of what your body needs and your understanding of yoga. 

 

The aim of the course is to provide a gateway into the other classes, workshops and retreats that Woodland Yoga offers so that you feel confident to attend and perhaps more importantly, inspired to continue your yoga practice and draw on its healing, supportive qualities.

Focus for next term: Koshas

Our next term starts 7 January 2020 for 6 weeks and this term we will have the same focus on the fundamentals of yoga but start to bring in more of the philosophy of yoga.


The five layers of awareness, or koshas, are energetic layers that bring us closer to our True Self and finding inner peace. 


Here's a brief schedule of what you can expect:


Week 1 – Introducing Yoga and the Koshas

Week 2 – Focus on the core and introducing Annamaya Kosha

Week 3 – Focus on the upper back and introducing Pranamaya Kosha

Week 4 – Focus on the lower back and introducing Manomaya Kosha

Week 5 – Focus on the shoulders and introducing Vijñānamaya Kosha

Week 6 – Focus on lower limb alignment and Anandamaya Kosha

 

We are excited to take you on a journey of discovery into yoga and all the life-long benefits it can offer. Our aim is to guide you step by step so that you come away with a solid foundation of the basics of yoga but also a new found passion for this practice that we simply couldn’t live without!
